One of the most legendary albums of all-time—for a reason.
This record was really great; concept albums are very hit-or-miss for me, but this was amazing. The album is cohesive without feeling too repetitive, and the order is natural and makes sense. I'm just sad I hadn't experienced it sooner!
My top 3 songs:
Money is a terrific track; the 7/4 time signature is super interesting, and it just works. Then, when it changes to 4/4, it feels like the next logical section of the song.
One of my favorite parts of this song is the keyboard (?) that plays staccato notes as part of the layered guitar/bass instrumental part every time Waters sings the word "money"—it's the cherry on top to an already-unique track, plus it only plays in the right ear (love some good stereo effect).
Time is an epic song with incredibly complex layers, and it's a real treat to listen to.
Brain Damage is my third choice from this album, because it's simply an amazing track. Everything is right—it never feels stagnant or boring, yet it's one of the shorter songs on the album.
Something as simple as the evil laugh/cackle that they throw in really puts this over the top from "pretty good" to "great."
This is the most immersive records I've ever listened to, and was an amazing and monumental step into the world of Pink Floyd.
